Lot 48:
Six Gallon Edgefield South Carolina Double Handle Sorghum Jug circa 1840-50s. Slave made. This is an outstanding example and double handle sorghum jugs just don’t show due to most are wrapped up in museums and private collections these days. This is a large and in charge six gallon example with a rich earthy brown alkaline glaze with some nice dark swags in the glaze. Great classic tooled double collar mouth and has six punctates just under the spout. This is a collector grade example. Condition is very nice with one handle professionally restored to museum quality, also a few light chips on mouth were restored, nothing major. No hairline or other damage or repairs. Standing 16" Tall
