Monumental Lanier Meaders Early 1970s Face Jug that is just outstanding with amazing facial detail. This is a signed example and is very early 1970s with a great robust lime glaze with crude ears and pinched mouth with rock teeth, also the pinched eye lids with cobalt pupils. These are some of the most sought after examples being his early period works, this jug does have a nose issue, as follows: The nose was broken off right after it was purchased from Lanier and was reglued (not restored or colored) and shows a few missing pieces( more glaze flakes missing ). Other than that their is no issues or damage, and is a great early example. This is still a collector grade example due to age and outstanding folky look. Fresh from a Athens area collection.
