Southern Pottery Extravaganza Auction
Lot 33:
Beautiful Crawford Co. Billy Merritt One Gallon Pitcher that is in museum quality condition, along with the glaze. It has two concentric lines around the pitcher. Beautiful in the top fifteen glazes in Crawford County pitchers. The glaze is very eye appealing and has a paint rock base with modified lime large blotches through out the entire pitcher. The Lime has a large run on one side of the pitcher and you can see some amazing iron burst in the body of the pitcher, which makes Crawford Co. example really shine. Classic Bill Merritt from and handle circa 1880s and again I cant stress enough on how mint this example is. This is fresh from a private collection in South Atlanta area, and has NO chips cracks or repairs. This is a must for any southern stoneware collector or note worthy for any museum. Investment grade quality standing 11" Tall
