3 Gal Andrew Jackson Rye Jug
Description
Andrew Jackson Rye "Jack" (Born 1836 TN – Died 1910) Three gallon lime glazed jug with single handle. The jug bears a fine lime alkaline glaze with the scratched 3 in the top shoulder. The classic Andrew Jackson Rye handle and some nice lime glaze runs in the mid body of the jug. Also noted a known farmer and very well noted potter in the Hamilton Ala community. He is the son of William "Billy" Rye who was born1816TN-1905AL and was noted as a potter & a farmer. The jug of Andrew has some lip damage from use and age, see pictures. Has no cracks or repairs. Jug shows great on one side. Fresh from a Hamilton Alabama collection and stands 13 3/4" Tall
