Significant Beverly Buchanan Colorful Fold Out "Denmark" Pencil Signed Born: 1940, Died: 2015. She was an African American artist known for sculptures, paintings and land art. Buchanan studied at the Arts Students League under Norman Lewis and Romare Bearden. Her accomplishments were many including Guggenheim Fellowship, National Endowment For The Arts, Pollock-Krasner Foundation award, Georgia Visual Art Honoree, and Women’s Caucus For Art Lifetime Achievement Award, just to name a few. Her works are owned by a long list of museums and private collectors today. Although academically trained, Buchanan utilized the tools often associated with the self-taught artist, such as inserted text, found objects, and loosely applied vibrant color, to create the visually rich textures of the humble, yet complex, structures in her drawings, sculptures, prints, and photographs. This is a great detailed heavy art paper tri cut out (Folded) shacks, with rich purple, pinks, and black color details. Pencil signed and dated 1995. This is a fresh example out of an Athens, Georgia collection. Condition is excellent and stands 6 7/8" Tall on each shack and 4 3/8" Wide on each shack. Total Width is 12" Wide Total. This Shack is Titled "Denmark"
