Fine Crawford Co. "JM" Jack Merritt 2gal Jug
Description
Fine Crawford Co. "JM" Jack Merritt (1859-1935) two gallon jug with a amazing modified lime glaze that is just amazing. This is one of two from the same collection of JM signed jugs out of Athens area and the two best known example’s of Jack Merritt work. The jug has a paint rock background that lost to the lime glaze in the firing and makes for a stuning glaze. This is a truly museum grade piece and will fit into any stoneware collection. Again this is one of the nicest glaze pots you will ever see from Georgia. This piece has two rim chip that were restored to museum standards. No other issues or cracks, chips or repairs. Find another one. Note this example won the Georgia Jugfest Best in show in 2005. Standing 15" Tall
