Crawford Co. Double stamped "J" Jack Merritt (1859-1935) Jug
Description
Crawford Co. Double stamped "J" Jack Merritt (1859-1935) Jug which is in the fish hook style stamp, both are on the handle and is the first time we have seen this fish hook "J" being double stamped on a handle, the stamp is very clear and legible. This is a very scarce due to double stamp and is highly sought after. The jug has a very strong paint rock glaze with rich deep bold dark earthy runs and is in one gallon size. Condition is great with two small glaze flake that was restored to museum standards. Other than that their is no issues or chips or cracks. Both glaze flakes look to be about half the size of a #2 pencil eraser and is very hard to see. This will make a great addition to any southern stoneware collection Circa 1880s. Standing 12" Tall
