Rare Early Period Brown Pottery Atlanta, Georgia Face Jug from the 1890s-1900s time period, this is the earliest known face jug and I believe the largest known from Georgia. Folks, this is one of Georgia’s Best known southern folk pottery face jugs in this fine slip glaze. This two gallon in size is heavily detailed in classic Brown Pottery applied facial decoration. This face jug was purchased at a local Macon, Georgia flea market about 45 plus years ago and has been in a private collection until now. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to own such a historic example of southern folk pottery. This is truly a rare bird, find another one folks! As for the condition, the face jug shows authentic age wear light glaze flakes again very typical. No major chips, no cracks or restorations. Again a fresh exciting find in the face jug world.
