Lot 85:
Early Southern Stoneware 1/2 Gallon Fluid Jug
Description
Early Southern Stoneware 1/2 Gallon Fluid Jug Fantastic example with a modified lime alkaline glaze with a great eye appeal and form, this jug appears to be from the 1850-60s time period. I believe this example to be from North Georgia, but could possibly be from somewhere else. This example does have weight to the jug which in my opinion rules out North Carolina. This example is in collector grade condition with no damage, no chips, cracks or repairs present. A watertight drying crack at the base, this is from little to no glaze and is typical in southern stoneware. This example holds water and is pressure tested. Provenance: from a private Atlanta area collection. Standing: 9" Tall
