Southern Pottery & Folk Art Extravaganza
Lot 186:
Rare Jerry Yarborough "Yardbird" (Died 2012) Racoon Cookie Jar Figural 2010. This is an incredible example of southern folk pottery in this raccoon cookie jar by the legendary folk Potter Yardbird dated 2010. This example is highly detailed in the face lid that is just absolutely outstanding. It’s highly detailed with the legs and in details of the fur, simply outstanding. Note this is the first example I have ever seen of this nature. Upon looking at this piece most folks will say this doesn’t look like a raccoon and they would be correct. It looks more along the lines of a Red Panda that are native to the Himalayan Mountain region. More than likely the kiln got too hot and caused the white glaze to turn to a more grayish colored glaze. If you collect Yardbird, then this piece is most definitely one to have on your shelf for the collection. Fresh from a private collection out of Gainesville GA. Standing 10" Tall
Condition: Overall, this is an exceptional investment grade quality example and is in collector grade gem mints ten condition.
