Southern Pottery & Folk Art Extravaganza
Lot 74:
Fine 1870-1880s Jackson County (now present day Barrow County), Georgia Half Gallon Fluid Jug. This example is a fresh to the market Ferguson family half gallon jug with classic Ferguson high arching loop handle and bears one heck of an amazing salt over slip glaze, that gives a deep rich green earthy mossy hues. This example was found in a home in Clarke County, Athens GA and has never been offered to the market before. This example is highly sought after and will make a premium addition to any Southern stoneware collection, due to glaze, form and condition. Condition is outstanding: one insignificant glazed flake on the top lip, this is not worth mentioning and is not distracting in any form. Has a glaze burst at base, very insignificant, note this is not a hairline, and the jug rings true. Standing 9" Tall
