Civil War Officers Sword Made By W.H. Horstmann & Sons, Philadelphia. This sword belonged to Captain William Force of the 112 Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He was born in Hanover New Hampshire in 1820. Captain Force was shot in the right arm while leading a charge at Resaca, Georgia on May 14, 1864. He died five weeks later from infection on June 14, 1864. His sword was given to his son who was in the military. It was then passed down through the family. The last member was Elizabeth Wright of Carthage, Missouri. Sword sheath and grip made of sharks skin.
