Significant Early Period Lanier Meaders Face Jug, (1917-1998) This is one major fresh to the market, true new discovery in Southern Folk Pottery from Mobile, Alabama. Lanier Meaders is one of the folk potter icons for North Georgia and the south. Artistically this is a stunning example, made with extreme pride and care by the master folk potter’s hand. Early 1960s to mid 1960s. This is a true one of a kind example with outstanding facial details with no ears, no teeth and slopy wire cut base. Note the eyes are recessed and glazed inside the eye cavity and also great details of the eye brows as well. The nose is one solid piece of clay and mouth is just outstanding as well. This is one face jug that is truly for any Southern Folk Pottery collector and is one that truly will be hard to upgrade from. Honestly, it is an investment grade example and is fitting for any museum collection study or exhibit. Condition is, well basically Mint. With No chips, cracks or repairs.
