This jar has a rich lime alkaline glaze and has five punctates for gallon capacity and also has a single slash with heavy glaze filled in. This is a monumental jar with beautiful glaze and all the characteristics even though an unsigned example. This is truly a top shelf piece. The jar is a fresh discovery from Edgefield South Carolina and has been passed down in the family until Jan 23-2024 when Cagle Auction picked it up in Edgefield. The form is that of Dave’s best works and truly exemplifies the true master potter that Dave was. This example shows balance, graceful form, and a lime glaze fired to perfection.
