Lot 122:
Scarce Edwin "Nub" Meaders Scarface Face Jug #3. This is an amazing creation by the late "Nub" Meaders of Cleveland Georgia. The classic face jug with rich cobalt glaze with a heavy red color over the blue makes for a outstanding glaze, that was done in Edwin shop with Jack Meaders and Nub firing the face jug. This is 100% authentic face jug , Cagle Auction stands behind it, as well as the consignor who got it from the family. Also note this is the only one we have ever seen with the scaring on the face before. Learned from Lanier Meaders (1917-98) who was a pioneer in the southern folk pottery roots. The jug is in outstanding condition and is marked # 3 on the backside and was made for Jack Meaders which is script signed on the back side. Signed on the bottom Edwin Meaders 2/1/2003. Condition is Mint, with no repairs. Highly sought after example and will make a stellar addition in any southern folk pottery – face jug collection. Fresh to the market example from a Georgia collection. Standing 10 1/2" Tall
