Stunning Abraham Massey (1785 NC -?) Washington County, Georgia Four Gallon Jar. This is a true fresh example out of a Athens area collection and the jar is hands down simply stunning. Early example out of Washington Co. from one of Georgia most sought after potters Abraham Massey. The jar is 1825-30 time period, classic Massey shop with the small lug-lifter handles and the classic Edgefield South Carolina jar form. The jar has a stunning glaze that encases the entire jar. This example is simply Top Shelf and a rare example that almost never comes up for auction, one that will sit well on any shelf or museum exhibit. Simply find another one. Condition as follows: Two small rim restorations from along time ago, also a hairline stabilized with stunning color blending that is done to museum quality standards, a small rim flake that is insignificant.
