Rare Jerome Avera(1855-unknown) Signed Crawford Co. GA half gallon Jug Circa 1880s. Son of Crawford county potter John C. Avera(1834-1900). Highly significant marked example with a backwards "JA." This is the 3rd example I have ever seen and this example has a beautiful alkaline glaze with rich earthy, brown hues. Condition is outstanding with no cracks or repairs however the glaze is so thick during the firing the jug developed crazing lines(see pictures). Note- this is not a hairline crack this jug is water tight and rings true. Standing 10" Tall.
