Description
Stunning Six Gallon Steve Abee ( Lenoir, North Carolina ) Face Churn with lid. This is a outstanding piece of southern folk pottery and is truly a statement piece from the Catawba Valley region. This example has strong facial features classic of ear and facial treatment with a strong rock tooth mouth. The jar is in rich earthy green alkaline glaze with traces of blue rutile. This is a over all impressive example and is fresh from a North Carolina collection. Condition is gem mint with no chips or cracks, or repairs. There is under the bottom lip ( see pictures ) a firing crack due to large block of clay, nothing major, actually gives it a really cool look. This is a signed collector grade example and is standing 20 1/4" Tall
