Description
Fine Charles Lisk Face Jar, Vale North Carolina. Charles Lisk a native of Robbins NC area. He is related to the Brown family, some of which worked in the folk pottery tradition production. When Charles got married he moved to the Vale NC area around 1981. In 1982 he was producing his own wares & creations. He was living in the Reinhardt Brothers family home and shop that was located next to the late Burlon Craig home &pottery shop. Charles and Burlon struck up a great friendship and his work bears a strong influence of Burlons works with Mr. Lisk own spin on his creations. Charles Lisk is a true master folk potter and this example shows his perfection to the craft. This face jar is signed and mid 1990s. The jar is has stunning facial features with rich vibrant cobalt glaze runs on the face and ruffled rim area. The outstanding china plate teeth with detailed eyes and eye brows makes this a outstanding folk pottery example. Highly sought after & in mint condition. Fresh from a North Carolina collection standing 10 1/4" Tall
