Monumental signed J.S. Nash (1804 Ga. – 1876 Tx.) Decorated with a African American Female face. Size One Gallon Jug. Condition is Stellar No chips, Cracks, No Repairs, has been Black lighted and X-Rayed. What a stunning example of one of the finest and most significant pieces of Southern Stoneware to surface in the past twenty five years. This is the only known decorated piece of Texas stoneware with iron slip that point to a African American female with key details that point to the hair features. Great details in the face of the eyes and nose and mouth with graceful neck and shoulder lines. Rich lines make for stunning eye appeal. Fine tooled rim with classic Nash handle and form that show strong Edgefield influences.This is one for the books, with all the backing to be the finest jug from Texas.
