Scarce 1850’s Ferguson Shop Barrow Co, Southern Pottery Canning Jar. This is a stellar example of early Georgia stoneware. This Jackson County, when this jar was made now present day Barrow County jar has outstanding glaze and is in stellar condition, Mint with no chips, cracks or repairs. The alkaline glaze is a very glassy with traces of small quartz in the jar and has a warm light earthy green glaze. Note the typical sand line at base with no glaze, a trait of early Ferguson Family pottery. The jar is outstanding with no damage and is fresh from the Kiser Family of Hartwell Georgia collection. Important example due to glaze, form and condition but also being one of the most sought after examples from Georgia. Standing 9 3/4" Tall
