Description
Fine Jerry Brown (1942-2016) Face Jug 04-1993 of Hamilton, Alabama. This is a outstanding example with amazing facial features of this fine southern folk pottery face jug with a heavy facial hair features with detailed eyes and a block style teeth. Note the unusual squirrel on the side of the face above the ears. Very nice alkaline glaze with cobalt decorated eyes. Jerry is noted by the Smithsonian Museum and is also the 1992 National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment For The Arts. 2003 Alabama Folk Heritage Award. Also note the Smithsonian Festival of American Folklife. Condition is mint, and is fresh from the Lake Lanier collection. Standing 10 1/4" Tall
