Important Texas Stoneware Field-Monkey Jug circa 1880-1900s attributed to the Hunt Pottery. This is a outstanding example with heavy iron body and salt and magnesium glaze runs. The jug has been in Estes collection for years, of Hamilton Alabama, the jug was found in the Hamilton area many years ago.. This jug has a great sought after form with finial top, loop handle and spout. The piece has been on display at the Birmingham Museum Of Art & the letter from them will accompany with this jug. The condition is very good for being a utilitarian example and has a edge chip on spout & top edge of the finial. The jar is crack & repair free. Fine fresh example with Museum province and would make a fine addition in any southern stoneware collection.
