Rare Museum Quality Crawford Co. John B. Averett two gallon jug This is one of the finest Crawford County examples your will come across. This piece is a two gallon jug made by John B. Averett (1844-?) This is based off a early jug shard marked JBA stamp which carried the Averett traits in the handle and from of the jug. This jug just has stunning eye appeal and form. The glaze is a magnificent electric bluish green alkaline glaze with a earthy brown olivine background that encases the entire vessel. This is a must have for any Crawford Co./ Southern or stoneware collector. You will not find a finer example out of the Averett potters. Condition, one small glaze flake on the back side of lip, small rim glaze flake restoration that is very tiny and insignificant, and some glue residue on the rim also that shows under black light., someone made it into a lamp and drilled a small hole at base. No other restorations or cracks or chips. Stands 13" Tall
