Description
1836-1839 time period and Important Signed Edgefield, South Carolina Three Gallon Food Storage Jar, that is marked with three /// and one Horseshoe mark under the rim of the jar. The rim with a slight role and small handles all point to documented signed examples by potter N. Ramey or Harvey Drake. N. Ramey was know to be in business between 1836–1839, thus making this jar highly sought after by collectors. This jar has almost everything a collector could want. It’s early, amazing glaze and with both /// and horseshoe mark. Folks these just don’t turn up, period. Truly a rare bird, find another one folks. Condition: Condition: Has a few tight stress lines that are stabilized and Not color blended, also one lug has had glaze chipping restoration, and color blended very well. The jar rings true and is very stable. This jar will be hard just to find a comparable, let alone purchase one.
