Description
Fine & Scarce Documented Washignton Co. Three Gallon 1840-50s Jar. Exceptional Documented Washington County Georgia storage jar from the collection of Dr. John Burrison, Atlanta GA. And was in the collection of Folklife Collection of Southern Pottery. This example was displayed at the Atlanta history Center from 1996 to 2024. This jar is also illustrated in brothers and clay the story of Georgia folk pottery by Dr. John Burrison on page 73, photo 45 bottom right. This jar has a fantastic form with classic double strap handles with a great alkaline glaze that shows strong eye appeal. This example is in monumental condition with no chips, cracks or repairs present, jar rings true. This example is unmarked. A Cagle Top Shelf Example due to such a high collector grade condition. An extremely rare and important to get such a highly documented example for any southern stoneware collection, also this example would make a welcome addition into any institution.
