Crawford Co. Eddie Averett 1/2 Gallon Harvest Jug
Description
Monumental Crawford County Georgia Eddie Averett (1876-1928) 1/2 Gallon Harvest Jug from the 1890-1900s time period. This example is extremely scarce and highly important due to the half-gallon size capacity and also collector grade condition. This is the third example Cagle auction has had the privilege to offer, this is the only half gallon I have seen in gem mint 10, collector grade condition. This example has bold and strong eye appeal with a lime alkaline glaze shoulder dip and an unglazed midsection to the base. Also note the strong iron burst just below each lower handle terminal. Examples of this magnitude are extremely scarce and will make a fantastic addition in any southern stoneware collection and this one is surely museum grade. Folks I challenge anyone to find a better example, especially in 1/2 gallon size these are just not out there, Folks simply find another one this is truly a rare bird. Condition: Collector grade condition, no damage chips, cracks or repairs present. Provenance: fresh to the market example from a 40 plus year collection. Standing: 9 1/8" Tall
