Description

A monumental Early Miniature Edgefield, SC Pottersville Salt. This diminutive salt is one of the more sought-after examples of any stoneware or southern pottery, due to, as most tableware, once it was damaged it was completely discarded. However, this example survived with impeccable condition, with no damage, cracks and no repairs. Certainly crafted with grace and style for its explicit purpose by an enslaved potter for use at table. This example has fantastic eye appeal and a nice early glaze to match. As far as upgrading this example, this will be very difficult to accomplish, again going back to glazing condition, this one’s a Cagle Top Shelf Example. This example is truly a rare bird and will make a welcomed edition to your Edgefield or Southern Pottery collection. Provenance: fresh to the market example from the Johnson collection. Standing: 2 3/8" T x 2 5/8" W
