Rare Crawford Co. Signed Pyles 2gal Jug
Description
Extremely scarce Crawford County 2 gallon signed "P" For Thomas Pyles a noted distant cousin to the Becham family in Crawford County Georgia. Late 1800’s time period. These examples are extremely scarce this one has a strong P stamp in the handle, with an exceptional lime alkaline glaze that has fantastic eye appeal with light and dark contrast in the glaze along with some dark runs. Examples of this caliber are extremely difficult to find and do not surface on the market; this example will be extremely difficult to upgrade from especially a two-gallon example. This example has been in a private collection for the past 40 plus years and is a true fresh to the market example this piece is a must for any southern pottery aficionado. Condition: minor and insignificant rim edge flakes and small chips, typical for the age and appropriate wear of this vessel. No cracks or repairs present. A Cagle Top Shelf Example.
