Early 1830s Crawford Co. Lidded Jar 'Long Family'
Description
Early 1830s Crawford Co. Lidded Jar "Long Family" That is just fantastic with an iron wash alkaline glaze. These examples from this early 1830 to 40s time are extremely difficult to find and especially almost impossible to find with the original glazed lid with the correct iron wash alkaline glaze on the top that fits fantastic on the jar. This preserve jar is extremely coveted by Crawford County collectors due to the age form an original lid being present. This example will be extremely difficult to find another comparable example. Condition: a piece of the rim was chipped out and re glued, no color blending this is a very old repair and does not distract in any way, no cracks or repairs are present. Minor flea bites around the lid edge which is typical with lids in southern pottery. This example is fresh to the market from a 40 plus year private collection. Standing: 10" tall
