Description
Scarce and significant Crawford County, Georgia Emmett Merritt (1877-1937) Half Gallon Double Handle Grease Jar. This is an exceptional example of a scarce double handled half gallon grease jar; these examples almost never surface especially with a double handle is what makes this example so unique and scarce. This example has a fantastic, modified lime alkaline glaze that has stellar eye appealed along with a desirable half gallon size. This example will be extremely difficult to upgrade from let alone just to find this example in a double handle. Truly a Cagle Top Shelf Example. Provenance: fresh to the market example from a 40 plus year private collection. Condition: two insignificant glaze flakes on one handle and one insignificant flea bite on the other hand no other chips cracks and no repairs present. Standing: 7 1/8" tall
