Scarce Crawford Co. Sauce Pot or Ladel
Description
Scarce Crawford Co. Sauce Pot or Ladel. This is an extremely scarce example and the only intact example I have ever seen in person. Documented shard examples of these exist and definitely has the strong European and French look where these Potters originally migrated from. The saucepot or ladle bears a paint rock alkaline glaze with fantastic form and eye appeal. As for an attribution, I truly do not feel comfortable pointing out a documented Crawford County Potter. At this time research will continue to hopefully find a signed example. An extremely rare example that will make a great addition to any southern stoneware collection and would fit extremely well in any institution. Folks, this is truly a rare bird, and I challenge anyone to find a comparable example. Condition: one insignificant rim edge flake and no other condition issues present with no major chips, cracks or repairs present. Provenance: a fresh to the market example from a 40 year plus private collection. Standing: 5 1/4" Tall x 9 5/8" Wide
