1820s Edgefield South Carolina Pottersville Marked " Y " Four gallon jar. This jar has wonderful form with "Y" marked at the base and slave made, also four dots on the top shoulder for gallon capacity. The jar has everything period correct and is in a fantastic earthy green alkaline glaze. This jar was found in a smokehouse along the Georgia & Alabama border years ago and are getting almost impossible to find these days. The jar has had some lug handle glaze flakes restored to museum standards. Also a rim chip that was restored to exceptional museum standards. This is a fresh jar from a private collection and stands 14" Tall
