Southern Pottery & Folk Art Extravaganza
Lot 16A:
Significant Alabama 1850s Decorated Double Jug, strong possible attribution to John Lehman, German-born (1825-1883 GA). A truly significant new discovery in Alabama decorated stoneware in this floral and twist handle decorated double jug from Randolph County, Alabama. This is the second twist handle I have seen from Randolph County. The jug has wonderful floral decorations with great detail with a twist around the two jugs and the twist handle. Rich lime glaze with wipe on bottom and strong eye appeal. If you collect Alabama or Southern stoneware, this is a stellar object. When it comes to rarity, you can’t ask for much more. When you ask for Top Shelf, you found it. Simply Find Another One…. Again don’t let this one get away, museum grade example. Fresh example. Standing 12 1/8" Tall
Condition: Condition is as seen with original damage to handle reglued, note no color blending, and no other damage present and no repairs or chips.
