Southern Pottery & Folk Art Extravaganza
Lot 35:
Stunning 1820-30s Edgefield South Carolina Three Gallon Jug. This is a fine example of a Pottersville three gallon jug. Fresh discovery from an east Tennessee estate. This jug is just outstanding from the form and glaze which is found through out Pottersville tenure. The jug has a single slash mark at the top under the tooled rim. The jug has no marks at the base. The glaze is a nice stone color glaze with darker glaze runs and spots on the jug. As for condition, this one is great with two insignificant rim flakes, again this is typical from age and use. The base has a drying line and is water tight and is Not a hairline. No Repairs. Overall this one gets a very high score of a 9+ out of 10. These vessels from this time period are very scarce in this collector grade condition. Standing 15" Tall
