Significant 1815-1820 Edgefield, South Carolina, Pottersville Two Gallon Jug with / / marks at base, strong Cyrus Cogburn (1782NC – 1855TX) attribution. Folks this new discovery is just amazing that was discovered in Summerville, Georgia. This two gallon Pottersville marked jug has a stellar oatmeal alkaline glaze and has stellar old world form. Jugs from this period are almost never seen in this condition. This is one of six that I personally know of and three are on museums walls. The remaining three are in personal collections. Again the odds of these surfacing are highly scarce, not to mention in this condition. Truly a rare bird. Folks, simply find another one. Museum grade example. Standing 14 3/4" Tall

Condition: Condition: two insignificant rim nicks, and a hole drilled at base and was made into a lamp some years ago and painted white. The hole caused a glaze crack, not a hairline, jug rings true, only in the glaze and can be seen in the pictures. No major chips, no hairlines, and No repairs.
