Southern Pottery & Folk Art Extravaganza
Lot 69:
Fine Texas James Prothro (1803 SC – 1871 TX) Quart Jug. This is a very scarce example being a small size and with a nice ash glaze. The jug is from Rusk County, Texas and has great form and eye appeal. This jug has the correct clay body for east Texas and is not indicative of the Randlolph County Alabama area. This is why such a strong attribution to east Texas. Was found in Texas years ago, and purchased by a South Carolina collector. Fresh example and is in collector grade condition. One slight rim flake, otherwise in near mint condition. No cracks or repairs. Standing 7" Tall
