Scarce 1880s-1890s Missouri Alligator Pitcher. This is a great example with heavy relief carved details in the tree bark and the alligator is just outstanding. This is the first one that has crossed the block at Cagle Auction. This is a rare form from Missouri and smaller one has turned up around North Central Florida in the late 1990s. Also reference Ealy American Face Jugs page 187. Fresh from a North Carolina collection. Standing 10 1/4" Tall
Condition: Overall condition is very good only damage is to the alligator mouth, see pictures, no hairlines or repairs.
