Stellar 1835-1840 Crawford County, Georgia James Long (1785MD-1869GA) Six Gallon Storage Jar with classic Long handles and a form that is simply outstanding. The glaze has a rich iron wash glaze and a long stretch of light lime green glaze that runs from top to bottom. These are some of Georgia’s earliest forms with strong Edgefield traits shown in this example. The jar has a tall seated rim and which points to its use as either a food storage jar or possibly a churn due to the tall rim. I think it was both personally. These pieces from this early period in Georgia don’t surface anymore due to being so few out there and those are in collections and institutions today. This is a true fresh example from a Macon Georgia collection and is one every southern collector should have in their collection. Standing 18 1/2" Tall

Condition: Excellent, with no repairs or cracks.
