Sand Mountain Two Gallon Decorated Jug Thomas Jefferson "TJ" Henry (1832 GA. -1921 Ala.) Shop of Duck Springs Alabama. In 1860 he was living in Randolph Co. Ala and in DeKalb Co. in 1870. TJ Henry joined the Confederate Army in 1862, per Joey Brackner Book "Alabama Folk Potters" The jug is circa 1880s with a rich deep earthy brown alkaline glaze with wavy combing in the body at top shoulder. This is a matured glaze that does sit well and has a 2 scratched into the shoulder. The jug has the classic TJ Henry handle attachment with the classic thumbprint as well. Great condition with glaze flake at base see pictures. No major damage or cracks or repairs. Standing 13" Tall
