Outstanding Thomas Chandler Edgefield SC Broken Stem Jar circa early 1850s Kirksey Crossroads Edgefield SC district. This jar has graceful form and one of the best iron slip tailing decorations that I have seen on a Chandler Broken Stem jar. The detail in the iron slip decoration is very vivid and complete. This is one of his significant examples. Although unsigned, there is no doubt that this is of the hands of the Chandler Maker shop. Slave decorated. When it comes to condition, this jar is outstanding condition. There are no hairlines. Minor edge flaking on the left lug handle that is done to museum specifications. The right lug lifter handle has the same restoration but retains the original integrity of the lug handle. Also noted 2 finger prints inside jar probably of the hands of a female due to how small they are. Other than that, there are no other issues. Standing 14" T
