Lot 61:
Description
Rare Signed William Dennis "Billy" Merritt (1861-1929) Crawford County Georgia Spouted Jar. Folks all one can say on this jar is just Wow. This is the first jar I have ever seen and is one of the most significant finds and discovery in Crawford County pottery in the last twenty years. The jar is a electric light forest green runs and has some great nice iron burst through out the jar. Classic double handle with one signed "BM" and both handles are original and the jar is in near mint condition. This jar is seated for a lid, in which would have been unglazed more than likely. The jar is just simply outstanding, and find a better example. First one like this to cross the block at Cagle Auction. Simply find another one. Rare bird. Condition is great with one insignificant inner glaze flake and no other condition issues present and no cracks or repairs. Fresh find from a estate in Andalusia Alabama. Standing 10" Tall
Condition: Condition Collector Grade Example- Great with one insignificant inner glaze flake/chip and no other condition issues present and no cracks or repairs.
