Significant CS Kline (1854-1917) Decorated Two Gallon Churn Atlanta Georgia (Howell Mill District) Early 1880’s. This is an outstanding well documented example. It was in the Georgeanna Greer stoneware collection, which has the reference number on bottom. The churn also is pictured in the Book – Brothers In Clay First Edition by John A. Burrison, opposite page 110, Paper back edition page 113, second back from left. This is a positive ID on this example that matches the picture in the book. Also pictured in the Book Missing Pieces Published by Atlanta Historical Society 1977, page 88. The jar is one of two known examples with the Tornado decoration. Hands down, if you collect southern pottery especially Atlanta area examples, well, this is a must for any stoneware collector. The piece is in outstanding condition which matches the photos in the book. Condition – No repairs, No cracks, minor rim edge flaking typical for age and use. Provenance as follows – Georgeanna Greer Collection, William & Florence Griffin collection sold at Brunks Auction in 2009 to Robert Willingham. Standing 13 1/4" Tall
