Fine Southern Pottery & Folk Art Auction
Lot 115:
Description
Fine North Carolina Don Craig ( 1945-2015 ) Four Gallon Face Jug. Son of Famous southern master folk potter Burlon Craig. Don carried the old two hundred year old tradition alive with his pottery making skills taught by his late father and it shows. This is one of the finest face vessel I have personally seen, form the form of the jug which is outstanding, one points to the classic Catawba Valley wavey line decoration, also the cobalt glass runs, and again the form with stellar handles. This is a outstanding collector grade example on just the jug form. This example has a outstanding facial features with again great detailed ears, with detailed eyes and eye brows. The nose on this one is outstanding with great lip facial expression and the china plate teeth are outstanding. The cobalt runs on the jug are very nice blend that makes this folk pottery face jug just pop with strong eye appeal. This is a true collector grade example. Signed Don Craig on the back shoulder and on base. Mint condition and investment collector grade example. Fresh from a North Carolina
