Early Andrew Jackson Rye 5gal Double Handle Jug
Description
Rare Andrew Jackson Rye "Jack" (Born 1836 TN – Died 1910) Five Gallon Double Handle Sorghum Jug with a outstanding lime glaze. The classic double handle sorghum jug is with stellar form and the lime glaze is outstanding. Bold runs with glaze coagulations give way to a stunning eye appeal & the classic handle points to Andrews creations. The jug is circa 1850-60 Highly sought after pottery, due to very few pieces come up for auction. At one time the jug was painted white and red color and has been striped off. Condition is over all good with a large lip chip see pictures from age and use, prime candidate to be restored due to importance in Alabama stoneware. Fresh from a collection out of Hamilton Alabama. Standing 16" Tall
