Early1830-40s White Co. Georgia Craven Family Jar This is a very fine example of a Craven jar circa 1830-40s of the Mossy Creek District with a strong attribution to John Vandevere Craven born in Randolph Co. North Carolina ( 1798-1877 ) was potting in White County in 1825. This is a amazing piece of North Georgia stoneware and is extreme rare with a correct period glaze for White Co. The jar has a early ovoid shape and has two lug lifter handles, with a nice dark earthy iron sandish glaze, which was passed down through the Craven family of potters in White County. This is a museum grade example and is a must for any southern collector. Condition has a old small rim repair and a stress line that is tight. Fresh example standing 15" Tall
