Important Signed "GL" Garlington Lucus of Screamer Alabama, 1gal Jug second example we have ever offered and only one gallon we have seen. Signed GL for Garlington Lucus of Henry Co. Alabama. Garlington was born form the rich pottery of Edgefield South Carolina in 1821 and in 1842 he was running his pottery shop in the community of Screamer in Henry Co. Circa 1842-1845 period. This is with out a doubt a signed GL not EL of Crawford Co. Georgia. This is a very important piece and scarce vessel. This jug has strong iron wash glaze with salt fly ash traces that encases the jug body and shoulders, One gallon in size and is in great condition for its age. Condition is outstanding with one very small chip in lip that was restored to museum standards. This will sit in any southern stoneware collection with pride and is a wonderful jug.
