Scarce Rye Shop1850s 3gal Sorghum Double Handle Jug, again this is a stellar example of a antebellum Alabama sorghum jug. This is a rare double handle jug, circa 18950s, with a fantastic Lime and slat glaze. This jug has a beautiful glaze in which only is found from the Rye shop in Hamilton Ala. Classic strap handles with a large classic fancy three scratched just under the mouth of the jug. This also has a lumps in the side wall of the jug and a few kiln bloats nothing major. Highly sought after example and note worthy of any museum. This example was purchased in Hamilton Alabama on 04-29-1989 at a estate sale of Francis Lecil Northington of RT. 3 Box 160 Hamilton Ala. Its noted her great grandmother was a Hogan. This is a fresh example from the private collection in Hamilton Ala. No chips cracks or repairs. Standing 15" Tall 12" Dia at Base.
