Description
Fine Sand Mountain Alabama Three Gallon Double Handle Syrup Jug. This is a fantastic double handle syrup jug which is highly significant for sand mountain pottery. This example has a beautiful lamb alkaline glaze with a scratch 3 for gallon capacity in the shoulder and one solid concentric line. Double loop handles with plastic thumbprint and lower handle terminals and a wide mouth for syrup or sorghum. This is a fantastic example then we’ll make a great addition through any southern stoneware collection, both sides of the syrup jug as strong eye appeal. This jug was documented on Countrymen & Forbes website years ago for research material, under the sand mountain section on the website. Provenance: Years ago, this example was in the Countryman & Forbes collection and was traded for many years ago, now (present day) from a Private central Alabama collection. Condition: Only condition issue is a firing crack at the base, truly not distracting at all. No chips or repairs present. Standing: 15" Tall
