Early Alabama-Daniel Cribs 3gal Salt Glazed Jar
Description
Fantastic early Three gallons Tuscaloosa AL, Daniel Cribs (1800-1891) salt glazed jar. This example was documented by countryman Forbes collection and has been pictured on their web site for reference material. This example has a three stamped in the neck in between the two log handles and so strong Daniel Cribs shop form. This example does have some splotches of cobalt decoration on one side of the jar. This jar is from the early 1830-1840’s time period, and is very likely slave made as Mr. cribs owned multiple slaves in his pottery shop. As far as condition this example is in collector grade with one insignificant room edge flake, no cracks or repairs present. Provenance from a middle Alabama collection. Standing: 143/8" Tall
